R.E.A.L stands for Replicate, Examine, Assess, and Link. It's your source for realistic training methodologies, anything Martial Arts related, and Open Discussions about Life in General.
R.E.A.L. is a scientifically designed Martial Arts training methodology that offers you a way to learn, re-learn, and pressure test any Martial Art activity to ensure it's validity and efficacy in real life. Every Martial Art school practices R.E.A.L. to some degree, however, I find that there needs to be a systematic way to document and formulate your practice to ensure efficacy. That's where R.E.A.L., in my opinion stands firmly as a complete and sound methodology.
R - Replicate/Reproduce: Take any martial activity and revisit it exactly the way you were taught for proper body mechanics and execution.
E - Examine: Determine it's purpose, function, limitations, conditions of execution etc.
A - Assess: Test! Test! Test! Here, you have to develop several test scenarios and pressure test your activity (e.g multiple opponents, injured, under the influence, genders, various mental states, environmental conditions etc. You need to hang out here for a long time and adopt the mindset of a surviving animal. Careful research into various demographic and societal factors need to be considered when developing your test cases (e.g. examine crime scene investigations for who's doing what and take it back to your training, role play it realistically (idea Inspired by Senshido International)). Finally, you must ask yourself: "Did it work?" "Could I pull this off under the above pressurized situations?".
L - Link: Here you look back at your assessments in the previous step and ask yourself: "Ok, now what?", "What modifcations do I need to make this work?" "Should I keep it or lose it?".
R.E.A.L. Respect Policy
Blogging can get "hot under the collar" sometimes, but it doesn't have to be. You don't have to agree with me always. When we disagree, let's do it respectfully. My opinions will be given with respect, and I expect the same in return. That means:
* no swearing intended to hurt
* no put downs/insults
* no inappropriate or sexual harassing content
If I feel these policies are broken, I will not hesitate to dismiss you from this site, as I am the author and moderator.
All the best, and I hope we can enjoy a fun experience here at R.E.A.L. Martial Arts.

That is alot better… You’ve got it down packed now… All you have to do now is use the same volume settings every time you make another podcast… Great job!!! Keep up the great work!!!
Thank you my friend. You know, like I said, it’s nothing special. However, REAL simply gives us a reminder to Assess our work. Now if you want to go even deeper, it applies to all of our life….we should be stress testing everything…even relationships. I will be writing an article later on discussing how REAL encompasses our life.
Anyway, all the best, and much peace to you brother.
Chris.
